ABOUT US

getDigital was founded in 2002 by Philipp Stern and Florian Schatz with a starting capital of a grand total of 1000 euros. At the age of 11 or 12, the two started programming (back then in BASIC and with the C64) and at 18 they founded their own company, working as code monkeys for creating various homepages and shop pages on behalf of clients. In June 2002, they realized that there wasn't a shop in all of Europe that specifically catered to computer geeks. Of course, they had to change that, and since then, getDigital has existed.

The team of getDigital

After over thirteen years in business, four different company locations (from Florian's mother's basement to Florian's grandpa's attic to the rooms of an old dance school in Kiel-Projensdorf and finally to the "estate" in the industrial area of Kiel-Wellsee), an uncountable number of different internet providers (and none is fast enough), and a million shipped shirts and gadgets (at least it feels like it), we still haven't had enough. No wonder with such a great team like ours! To show you who is behind getDigital and who is responsible for what, you will find the most important information about our departments here:

SHIPPING

All the products you can order in the shop are stored in the warehouse. This is where your order arrives, and where all packages are assembled and packed. In the shirt area, we freshly print your new T-shirt with the desired design.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

If you have questions, are in a bad mood, or if something goes wrong, our customer service team is here to help. If you have a problem with an order or a product, you will always be assisted. If necessary, we will heroically take on the fight with DHL, technology, or defective products, promised!

TECHNOLOGY

In a geek shop, nothing works without IT. :) For example, the new shop was programmed here. Everything that runs behind the scenes is also managed by the technology team, such as the order system or the mail system, through which we answer customer inquiries or purchase new products.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & PURCHASING

The Purchasing team ensures supplies, on one hand, popular items are reordered, and on the other hand, we are constantly looking for new products. We are in contact with dealers around the globe, mostly communicating in English. In addition to large producers, small inventors are also among those who supply us with geek stuff.

However, Product Development is also very important to us: We place a lot of emphasis on implementing our own product ideas. From the first idea to the finished gadget can be a long journey, resulting in several of our geeky bestsellers. A new product requires the right designers, producers, and someone who keeps an eye on costs. ;) Once an item finally arrives at our warehouse, product management begins. There, it is thoroughly measured and checked for all legal requirements. In the EU, for example, there are quite a few notices that certain products must carry. Finally, photos, texts, and all important information for the shop are added so that you can get an idea of your new gadget.

MARKETING

It's hard to imagine, but there are still geeks and nerds in Europe who have never heard of us! To change that, we advertise on all the channels where you hang out: For example, we feed Google, Facebook, and Instagram with ads or write cool posts for our social media profiles. Additionally, we also make sure to place our products well on Amazon, so that even nerds who haven't found their way to our website yet can find us.

MANAGEMENT

The management represents the company (we are a GmbH), ensures that everything runs smoothly, and is responsible for coordinating the staff and the overall strategy of the company. This means, for example, that new projects like our loot box are planned together with our boss. And if something doesn't work, he is of course the first point of contact. ;)
