We all like to be in charge of our personal data, but modern methods of data recording have made it more difficult for us to retain control of this data. One method of data recording which is gaining increasing popularity is the radio frequency identification (RFID) chip found in many passports and smartcards. This chip can be read out unnoticed and without your permission.

But with the RFID Protection Covers, you can prevent this and safeguard your privacy. The RFID Protection Covers are available in four versions:

The Covers for Smartcards are extremely thin. You can put them over the smartcards in your purse.
The Passport Case is, of course, made for your passport. It consists of plastic and looks like the cover of a German passport.
The Billfold is foldable and made of artificial leather and fabric containing two huge compartments for documents such as passports.
The Wallet leaves nothing to be desired: It offers two long compartments for banknotes, one compartment for loose cash, 6 compartments for smartcards and some more possibilities to store something.

In all versions a shielding membrane scrambles the frequency of reading devices. Of course, the RFID chips can be read out, if you wish: Simply pull the smartcards out of the cover or swing the wallet open.

About RFID

The RFID chip is scanned as follows: The reading device emits a special frequency that generates an induction inside the chip; thus, the chip can send its identification number to the reading device without the use of a battery. Because the reading process is performed via radio, it remains unnoticed most times.

In the meantime, RFID chips are built in many labels and packages, student ID cards, payback cards and the new EU passports. The latter is most delicate because it refers directly to a specific human identity.
(a label can only be connected to a person through a credit card charge).
