Ink - The Movie Short info:
- Independently produced film that became famous through filesharing.
- Story: Unknown forces battle for the power over human souls by influencing their dreams.
- Critics compare the film with Donnie Darko, Dark City and Pan's Labyrinth.
The movie Ink was produced by an independent and small film production company called Double Edge Films. Unfortunately, Double Edge Films was not able to find a publishing company for its movie, but after its release, the film found a very large audience by file sharing (using BitTorrent, the movie was downloaded 400,000 times in one week). After that, the producers encouraged file sharers to download the movie, which shows that file sharing can have a positive effect at least for the artists. On the other hand, it's clear that Double Edge Films can't produce a movie for free (they financed the whole movie on their own), which is why you can support both the artists and file sharing by buying this movie on DVD or Blue-ray.
To the movie itself: As the light fades and the city goes to sleep, two forces emerge. They are invisible except for the power they exert over us in our sleep, battling for our souls through dreams. John and Emma, Father and daughter, are wrenched into this fantastical dream world battle, forced to fight for John's soul and to save Emma from an eternal nightmare.
Ink is a high-concept visual thriller that weaves seamlessly between the conscious and subconscious. It has been compared to cult classics Donnie Darko, Dark City and Pan's Labyrinth.
The audio of both the DVD and the Blu-ray is English with optional English or Spanish subtitles. Both versions come with these specials: Behind-The-Scenes Featurette, Director Commentary, Interview with the actors and one deleted scene. Each DVD and each Blu-ray has been signed by the director on the cover.
